Teaching

I am a professor in the Capilano University Jazz Studies Department where I serve as Academic Coordinator (Dept. Head). I teach arranging, improvisation, and conducting. I also coach a variety of small ensembles and direct Narwhal, a mixed vocal/instrumental ensemble dedicated to new music. Capilano is a great place to teach and work. We offer a B.Mus in Jazz Studies and attract some of Canada's most talented young musicians. The faculty are among the finest players and educators in the country. Before coming to Cap full time I also taught at: Douglas College Department of Performing Arts and Simon Fraser University School for Contemporary Arts.

Recently, I have had the privilege of doing some volunteer teaching and development work with the Nunya Music Academy in Dzodze, Ghana. My friend Kofi Gbolonyo and his brother, Prosper are doing incredible work with the children there. Go to www.nunyaacademy.com to learn more.
